Living with Humble the Grumble

Humble was a grumble that lived beneath my soul

Constantly he was interrupted by the ruckus from above.

Often he would bang on the floor unseating me from my chair.

Often I’d turn red and wanted to pull out my hair!

But that grumble doesn’t do it for no reason at all

He’s just trying to live under a ruckus… that’s not small

Twice did he tap on my floor

Several times he did tell my friends he’d have no more!

But my soul is such fun to play in…

that after he tapped… I did begin again!

One friend did say to respect that grumble…

but I simply wanted to do as I pleased.

Until one day Humble had enough…

He packed his bags, his socks ,and grumbling stuff

and he went over to a gentle soul’s house to rest.

And when he did my soul sank.

I felt bad for him because it was my fault he was such a crank.

I bounced around and drove him crazy

I would have left too…

Everyone I know seemed to be mad….

for driving Humble the grumble out of his pad.

I went to find the peaceful soul

the one where Humble found rest.

I told him I was sorry and I just wanted to get that off my chest!

Humble looked and started to smile.

and the world seemed brighter for just a little while.

So when Humble came back home …I remembered that smile,

the one that made the world brighter for a little while.

and I took the time to get to know Humble better

and soon I found out that  grumble was much cooler than me.

He had more friends than there was water in the sea!

…and then I realized what had not occurred to me before.

Living with Humble means much, much more…

To be cool like Humble I learned to play quieter in my soul from day-to-day.

Only playing loudly once in a while…

Humble doesn’t mind…He’ll even come and watch!

…so long as I don’t take the  level up more than a notch…or two.

Because Humble lives life by a different view

He says “Give others a chance to shine because I already know how special

you are…you don’t have anything to prove…

I live under your soul…

so believe me…

I KNOW!”
